I stopped by Maru Coffee in Williamsburg today for their soft opening. Their official opening is next week Sep 22, 2025. When I lived in LA, Maru was my favorite coffee shop in the city. The best way to explain it is that it's a spot where you want to bring an out-of-town friend.

The new space is gorgeous: warm wood finishes, clean stone floors, and that signature Southern California minimalism Maru is known for. Even with a line snaking out the door, the energy inside felt calm and intentional, with baristas working in perfect rhythm. I ordered an iced Americano and picked up a bag of their Ethiopia Gerse beans, with tasting notes of peach, white grape, and tea rose.

When the Maru reached out about a sidewalk sign, we were really excited to help out. It was really cool to see our upright stainless steel sidewalk sign in the classic Maru minimalist design, with just their store name and opening hours. It fit seamlessly with their brand of quiet simplicity and uncompromising quality.

If you're in New York, stop by Williamsburg in Brooklyn to visit Maru: 320 Wythe Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249. Go this week if you can, you’ll beat the official opening crowds and get a glimpse of why Maru is one of LA’s best coffee shops, now making its mark in NYC.
