#8 - SIP Robot Coffee in Chelsea

#8 - SIP Robot Coffee in Chelsea

Welcome to the eighth post of our series, Sidewalk Signs of NYC, where we continue to spotlight the coolest New York City signs and the brands behind them!

Robot Coffee

After visiting our photo studio, we walked down 27th street and spotted a new coffee shop! What caught our eye was the colorful metal A-Frame Sidewalk sign featuring a robotic arm. It was a metal A-Frame featuring a yellow and red plate with the logo SIP in what looked eerily similar to the Tesla logo.

When we looked into the store, we saw a futuristic vibe featuring concrete blocks, stainless steel pipes, and most importantly, a robot arm making pour over coffee!

Once inside, we finally got to see the robot arm up front and in action while it picked up the Fellow Coffee Kettle and poured hot water into the coffee filter, imitating the small circular motion I use to pour coffee at home. It was really quite impressive, check out the video below!

The general manager was super nice and said SIP coffee was founded by 4 people who have engineering and computer science backgrounds. They loved coffee and built this machine from scratch! Note that the robot arm was only capable of making pour over coffee, while any espresso or mixed drinks would still require human input and effort.

Unfortunately, Jamie and I already had 2 coffee by this point so we didn't get to try the robot drip coffee but made it a point to come back during our next trip to Chelsea. We loved the vibes inside the store and their use of stainless steel everywhere. I know we're biased, but we think they should have bought our stainless steel A-frame over their current sidewalk sign!

Here's a couple more photos of the inside of their store!
