This past weekend, we rode down to Soho to check out Mimi’s, the new froyo spot that just opened on the corner of Spring and Lafayette. My wife is a big froyo fan (Pinkberry in K-Town is our usual go-to), while I’ve always leaned more toward ice cream. Froyo has never felt as creamy to me, but over time I’ve learned to appreciate its flavor and “healthier” vibe.

We pulled up on our scooter about an hour before closing, and the line was still wrapped around the block! This was 8 p.m. on a Sunday night, and the place was buzzing. We didn’t have time to wait for an hour, but I still wanted to snap some photos of our sidewalk sign along with the furniture and interior.

Luckily, I spotted Saul (one of the co-founders) welcoming people in line. I’d met him before briefly, and he kindly let us inside to take some pictures for our Instagram. We also met Emma, another co-founder, who was running helping run the cashier and welcoming people inside. Emma and Saul are awesome humans and couldn’t have been more welcoming. They also said they loved our sign and apparently tons of people have been taking photos of it!

Even though we said we’d come back another time, Emma and Saul insisted we try a few flavors before we left. We sampled the original tart, mango, and chocolate and WOW. This froyo is unlike any froyo we've ever tried. Usually, froyo has a slight acidic tang and dense texture. But this was light, airy, and somehow still creamy. Jamie was in heaven. We’ll be back for seconds soon.

One of the best parts about running a sign business is getting to meet awesome entrepreneurs like Emma and Saul, people shaking up their industries with something both delicious and fun. Mimi’s has officially earned a permanent spot in our dessert rotation.
